Its 170-acre Hudson Valley campus runs associate and bachelor’s programs across Culinary Arts, Baking & Pastry Arts, Food Business, Culinary Science, and Food Studies, taught through student-staffed restaurants in Roth Hall and even a student-run brewery at The Egg. The price of the name: $36,113 a year average net after grants, the highest in the state.

Institute of Culinary Education: the NYC career school

ICE’s Lower Manhattan campus at Brookfield Place packs 12 teaching kitchens, a chocolate lab, and a hydroponic garden into 74,000 square feet, running diploma programs in Culinary Arts, Pastry & Baking Arts, and Restaurant & Culinary Management, most completable in under a year. SUNY Delhi: the public bachelor’s route

SUNY Delhi is the rare public school where you can take culinary all the way to a Bachelor of Business Administration in Culinary Arts Management, with a Baking & Pastry Arts Management bachelor’s alongside it, taught through a student-run restaurant (Bluestone Pub), a butcher shop, and an ice-carving lab. At $17,225 average net it costs less than half the CIA, and the culinary management BBA is also offered online.

What Culinary School Costs in New York

The spread is the story: Suffolk County Community College ($5,258 net), CUNY Kingsborough ($5,606), and Monroe Community College ($6,353) deliver culinary associate degrees for a tenth of a private marquee price. Several schools, including Suffolk, Niagara, and Erie, report baking & pastry and management tracks too. The International Culinary Center, the former French Culinary Institute in SoHo, closed in 2020, and its programs and legacy were absorbed into ICE.
